Common questions

Are you a veterinarian?

No. Services are rendered by a registered Animal Health Technician working within a defined scope of practice. It covers routine health care, vaccinations, parasite control, minor ailments and advice. Anything beyond that is referred to a veterinarian.

Can you do surgery or sterilisations at my home?

No surgical procedures are performed during house calls. We will happily refer you to a veterinary practice and share our notes so nothing has to be repeated.

Where exactly do you work from?

Three places. Airport Pets Bapsfontein on Mondays, Airport Pets Pomona on Wednesdays and Fridays — both have a clinic room you can come to — and house calls across Pretoria, Centurion and surrounds on Tuesdays and Thursdays. House calls can also be arranged from either Airport Pets branch on their days.

How is the travel fee worked out?

By distance from Pretoria central, and it is confirmed with your estimate before we come. Several animals at one address share one travel fee — so do neighbours who book together.

Do you work with pet insurance?

Yes. We issue itemised invoices, certificates and treatment notes suitable for claims. Give us your provider on the booking form and we will format things to suit them.

In an emergency

Critter Care is not a 24-hour emergency service. For collapse, bleeding, poisoning, difficulty breathing, snake bite or a bloated abdomen, go immediately to your nearest 24-hour veterinary hospital.
